Childhood & Early Life
American actor, comedian, and director Paul Montgomery Shore was born on February 1, 1968, and is most known for his comedic appearances in comedy films from the 1990s. At 17, Shore started her career as a stand-up comedian.
In 1989, she joined MTV as a VJ. This resulted in a leading part in the 1992 somewhat successful comedy picture Encino Man. He then went on to create leading man vehicles, such as Bio-Dome (1996) and Son in Law (1993).
In A Goofy Movie and its direct-to-video sequel, An Extremely Goofy Movie, Shore portrayed Robert “Bobby” Zimuruski.
Paul Montgomery Shore was born in Shore, the son of Mitzi Shore (née Saidel) and Sammy Shore. Comedian Sammy Shore performed. Along with Rudy De Luca, he and Mitzi co-founded The Comedy Store.
Mitzi Shore owned and ran the Comedy Store as part of the terms of their divorce from Sammy in 1974 until her death. Shore was brought up in Beverly Hills, California, and identified as Jewish. In 1986, he received his diploma from Beverly Hills High School.

Career
At the Alley Cat Bistro in Culver City, 17-year-old Shore made his stand-up debut, inspired by his parents’ careers in comedy and show business. “While everyone else in the school was completing their SAT applications, I had just finished mine.
I was certain that I would not attend college.” Sam Kinison opened several Shore’s concerts and served as his mentor. During her time spent around the comedy club circuit, Shore developed a character known as “The Weasel“.
In “The Weasel,” Shore adopted a surfer dialect that was highly laced with dudespeak terms like “edged,” “melons,” and “grinding,” in addition to his signature line, “Hey, BU-DDY.”
Serving as an on-air MTV VJ from 1989 to 1994 was Shore’s big break. At the height of his popularity on MTV, Shore hosted MTV’s annual Spring Break parties and had his program, Totally Pauly. The music video for “Lisa, Lisa, the One I Adore” was also published by him.
Shore featured in the modestly successful 1992 film Encino Man. Because of the movie’s popularity, Shore was able to feature in more customised roles, but they were less successful overall: Son in Law (1993), In the Army Now (1994), Jury Duty (1995), and Bio-Dome (1996).
Each of the five films earned less money at the box office than the previous one and all five had very unfavorable reviews, with the last three having ratings below 10% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Film reviewer Roger Ebert said of Shore’s performances in these films, “Shore bypasses all categories to achieve a kind of transcendent fingernails-on-the-blackboard effect.” Pauly, the television programme that Shore featured in, was terminated after five episodes on the air in 1997.
Shore had a short cameo in “Break Stuff” and a cameo as a pizza deliveryman in the music video “N 2 Gether Now” by American rock band Limp Bizkit. Shore’s film performances have been honoured by the Golden Raspberry Awards on multiple occasions.
He was nominated for Worst Actor of the Century, lost to Sylvester Stallone, and won Worst New Star of the Decade for the 1990s, Worst Actor of the Year for Encino Man, and Worst New Star of the Year for Bio-Dome.
In episode 10 of the TV show Alone Together in March 2018, Shore made an appearance in character.
After a fan campaign, Shore released a trailer for The Court Jester, a short film in which he plays Richard Simmons, in January 2024. In a statement, Simmons admitted that he had not approved the clip.
