Hussain Dawood’s son Dawood was born in Rawalpindi on February 12, 1975, and reared in Karachi. Azmeh Dawood and her philanthropic sister Sabrina Dawood were his sisters. Abdul Samad Dawood was his brother.

His paternal grandfather, Ahmed Dawood, established the family company, Dawood Group, and was a well-known Memon entrepreneur. Shahzada attended Aitchison College for his early schooling. 

He graduated from Philadelphia University (now Thomas Jefferson University) with an MSc in global textile marketing and an LLB from Buckingham University.

Since 2002, Shahzada Dawood has been wed to Christine Dawood, née Meckel (born 1975), a German native and reared. They moved to Singapore and then Pakistan before settling in the UK in 2014. Together, they were parents to two kids. 2016 saw Dawood purportedly get Maltese citizenship via the Individual Investor Program.

Career

Dawood served as a director of the Dawood Hercules Corporation in addition to serving as vice-chairman of the Engro Corporation.

Since 2003, Dawood has served on the board of the Engro Corporation. In October 2021, he was named vice-chairman of Engro. He had served as the vice-chairman of the Dawood Hercules Corporation prior to this.

He has made investments in public-listed companies to identify development prospects through mergers and acquisitions in the textile, food, fertilizer, and energy sectors.

Dawood received the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders designation in 2012. On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in 2020, Dawood gave a speech at the UN.

Major Work/Filmography

Dawood served as a trustee of the education-focused family foundation The Dawood Foundation (TDF) from 1996 to 2023. The Hussain Dawood Pledge, a private donation to combat COVID-19 in Pakistan, was organized by TDF. His efforts had been concentrated on helping those affected by the pandemic in Pakistan who needed mental health treatment.

Dawood was also a board member of the SETI Institute, a trustee of the Engro Foundation, and a member of Prince’s Trust International’s Global Advisory Board. Prince’s Trust International is a charitable organization that Charles III founded.
