Childhood & Early Life
Busch was born and reared in the Nevada city of Las Vegas. His first taste of racing occurred at the age of six when he raced a handmade go-kart around the cul-de-sac in his family’s Las Vegas neighborhood.
Despite his inability to reach the throttle, Busch was able to learn the fundamentals through his father Tom, who handled the gas pedal while Busch drove the car.
Busch grew up in the home garage alongside his father and elder brother Kurt, eventually becoming crew chief for his brother’s dwarf car team when he was eleven years old.
Busch began his driving career in 1998, shortly after his 13th birthday; from 1999 to 2001, Busch won over 65 races in legends car racing, winning two track championships at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring short-track before transitioning to late models.
During the 2001 season, Busch won ten races in late model competition at the Bullring.
Busch debuted in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at the age of 16, driving the No. 99 Ford for Roush Racing as a substitute for Nathan Haseleu, who was dismissed halfway through the 2001 season.
He made his series debut at Indianapolis Raceway Park, finishing ninth in his maiden race. He was leading his second race at Chicago Motor Speedway when his truck ran out of gasoline with 12 laps to go.
Busch was the fastest in practice for the 2001 Auto Club 200 at California Speedway in Fontana, CA, when he was told he couldn’t compete because the CART FedEx Championship Series, which was running at the track the same weekend, was sponsored by Marlboro cigarettes.
Busch was declared ineligible to compete owing to an interpretation of the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement, which prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from participating in cigarette company-sponsored events.

When the age restrictions were implemented, Busch moved from NASCAR to the American Speed Association (ASA) National Tour, placing eighth in points.
Busch graduated from Durango High School in Las Vegas, Nevada a year early with honors in 2002 to concentrate on his racing career.
The following year, he made his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, finishing eleventh in the No. 22 Chevrolet for WP Motorsports.

Career
Busch owns multiple NASCAR records, including the most race victories in a season across the top three NASCAR series in the modern era, which he did in 2010.
With 228 victories in all three of NASCAR’s national touring series (as of June 4, 2023), he owns the all-time record.
Furthermore, he holds the record for the most Xfinity Series victories in a single season (13 in 2010), as well as the most overall (102). Busch also owns the record for the most total Truck Series victories with 63.
He is the only driver in history with 60 victories in each of NASCAR’s top three divisions as of 2023. On May 6, 2019, his tenth-place result at Dover equaled Morgan Shepherd for the most consecutive top-ten finishes to begin a season, with 11.

Nitro Rallycross, a rallycross series founded by former NASCAR driver Travis Pastrana, invited Busch to race at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in November 2021.
Busch finished fourth in the Supercar Final, which was won by Pastrana.
Busch stated in 2023 that he would be participating in the Superstar Racing Experience that summer to participate in select races.
Those races were held on July 27 at Motor Mile Speedway and August 3 at Berlin Raceway. Busch fought Tony Stewart and Clint Bowyer for the victory in the final laps of the SRX race at Motor Mile Speedway.
In the end, Busch took the checkered flag and became one of just four drivers in SRX history to win on their debut. Kyle won again the following weekend at Berlin Raceway, putting him 2 for 2 in the series.
Charity Works
Following a visit to the St. John’s Home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Busch established the Kyle Busch Foundation in 2006.
According to their website, “The Kyle Busch Foundation is dedicated to providing essential tools for less fortunate children throughout the country.”
Busch also has personal sponsorship arrangements from Monster Energy and Electric Visual, both of which feature on his late model at some point.
During the 2008 racing season, Busch introduced the “Kyle’s Miles” program, in collaboration with Pedigree, to benefit dogs in shelters and breed rescue organizations.
After his first Cup Series victory in California on September 4, 2005, Busch and car owner Rick Hendrick gave his winning shares to the American Red Cross to aid those in need after Hurricane Katrina.
