Childhood & Early Life
Georgia’s Cumming is where Giddish was born. She has a brother called Eli and is the daughter of Charles and Nita Giddish. Her passion in performing was encouraged by her paternal grandpa, who took her to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Her grandma from her mother also encouraged her to pursue her hobbies.
She went to Forsyth Central High School in Georgia and had a close relationship with Yatesy Harvey, a drama instructor there who also happened to be her mother’s friend and the director of a community theatre.
During her childhood, Giddish took part in Harvey’s plays and overnight theatre camps for many years. Giddish has been cited as saying about Harvey, “She just inspired a fierce curiosity and very high standards of what acting was and how much dedication it took and rehearsal, and we would do plays every night.”
Giddish was a young woman who received several honours. She was on the winning softball team at Forsyth Central, and in 1998 she won the State Literary Championship for Girls Dramatic Interpretation.
She majored in theatre performance at the University of Evansville in Indiana, from which she graduated. Giddish’s parents drove to Indiana to watch her perform in every college play, showing her the strong support of her family for her acting career.
Her acting career took her to New York City after graduating from college. She debuted alongside Farrah Fawcett in a Broadway production within a year of her arrival.
On June 20, 2015, Giddish tied the knot with Lawrence Faulborn in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. In October 2015, she gave birth to Ludo, a boy, who became the couple’s first child. In November 2018, Giddish gave birth to Charlie, the couple’s second child, a boy.
Her pregnancies were documented on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for both of them. In 2018, Giddish and Faulborn were divorced.

Career
From 2005 until 2007, Giddish played Diana Henry in the soap opera All My Children. Soap Opera Weekly magazine revealed in July 2007 that Giddish and All My Children had split up amicably and that her last appearance as Di would be on September 19, 2007.
Giddish portrayed Courtney in the web series The Burg, which is acknowledged as the first written web series online, and starred in the thriller film Death in Love (2008), which had its Sundance Film Festival debut. The Burg and All’s Faire, in which Giddish portrayed Cindy, were both produced by the same individuals.
Giddish played rape victim Kara Bawson in a cameo appearance on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s “Outsider” episode in January 2007.
On June 27, 2011, it was revealed that Giddish and Danny Pino from Cold Case would be joining the cast of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for the thirteenth season, which would also mark Christopher Meloni’s exit from the show.
During the summer’s production, Giddish said to TV Guide, “Everyone on the set is really excited and energised.” Chris Meloni’s departure has caused them to lose a family member, but they have been very tolerant of us. Both Amanda and I are ecstatic to be working with these individuals here.”
The 13th season opener of “Scorched Earth” included Giddish’s first appearance as Detective Amanda Rollins, who initially collaborates with Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Giddish described her character as “completely in awe of Olivia,” stating in an interview with TV Guide that Amanda is “really eager to get in there because she knows her stuff and really eager to learn.”
“We had to regroup, like a football team,” Giddish’s castmate Ice-T, who has played Detective Odafin Tutuola since the second season of the show, said of Giddish and Pino after Meloni’s departure.
“We still needed to get the ball down the field, even if the quarterback had switched. And we performed admirably… Danny entered with strength. Kelli entered, formidable. And we silence the skeptics.” On April 16, 2020, Giddish’s character in “Solving For The Unknowns” advanced to the rank of second-grade investigator.
Giddish’s farewell episode aired in season 24, episode 9 (“And a Trauma in a Pear Tree“), in which Rollins left the Special Victims Unit to take a teaching position at Fordham University and wed ADA Dominick Carisi Jr. (Peter Scanavino).

Controversy
Despite spending 12 years on Law & Order: SVU as Amanda Rollins, Kelli Giddish will not be returning for season 24, much to the natural dismay of the show’s large fan base. The 24th season of Law & Order: SVU debuts on September 22.
Real-life behind-the-scenes news from Law & Order: SVU’s production has eclipsed the thrilling plan for the police procedural to launch season 24 with a bang—a three-series crossover event including the other two Law & Order programmes.
Since season 13, Kelli Giddish’s supporting role Amanda Rollins on Law & Order: SVU has been a staple on the long-running series. However, it was reported earlier in 2022 that Amanda Rollins will not be returning for the full 24 episodes of the show.
The news that Giddish, a beloved supporting character on Law & Order: SVU, would be leaving the show shocked many fans, even though Christopher Meloni’s comeback as Stabler shown that the show can bring back characters who were previously written out of the procedural.
Further rumours that have arisen after the first announcement broke suggest that Giddish was compelled to leave the job and that Amanda Rollins’ firing was decided by higher-ranking members of the Law & Order: SVU production crew.
Giddish will not be returning to Law & Order: SVU later in season 24, Variety reports, citing a directive from above. An unidentified source notes that the network want to “keep the show as up to date and current as possible.”
Giddish’s exit from Law & Order: SVU was attributed to “salary negotiations,” much like Neve Campbell’s decision not to return for Scream 6.
However, the report seems to imply that the decision to force Giddish out of her role was predetermined and salary negotiations were more of a catalyst than a cause when it came to writing the character of Amanda Rollins off the show.
